Mary Julia “Judy” Lanier Ballard, 90, a resident of Wichita Falls since 1956, passed away at 5:20 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2017.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 2017, at Crestview Memorial Park. Memorial services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Senior Minister, Rev. Paul Goodrich and Education Minister, Rev. Georgia Harrison officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ballard was born on April 7, 1926, in Johnston City, Illinois, to the late Joseph and Grace Lanier. She married Joe Ballard in 1952, and he preceded her in death in 1983.
She was a volunteer at Interfaith Ministries; served on the Administrative Board of First United Methodist Church, Wichita Falls, where she taught Sunday school, was a study leader for the Women’s Ministries; and chaired the Library Board. She was a member of Chapter EA of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

Mrs. Ballard, a former staff member of Kemp Public Library, was a 1948 graduate of Murray State University, Murray, Kentucky, with a degree in library science.

Survivors include two nieces; Lyndia Ellis of Henderson, KY; and Donna Glass of Lake Tellico, TN; and several cousins, great nieces and nephews.
