Scott Michael Brazil
October 30, 1983 - August 5, 2017

Scott Michael Brazil, 33, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, passed away on August 5, 2017.

Scott was born in Wichita Falls on October 30, 1983, to the late Dr. Max David Brazil and Janice Rosson Brazil. He attended Rider High School and was a member of the 2000 state championship soccer team. He went on to Oklahoma State University, which he attended until his struggles with mental illness became too severe.

Possessed of a quick wit and a wicked sense of humor, Scott loved soccer, his dogs, and the spiritual classics of Asian religions, especially the Bhagavad Gita. Although often hard on himself, Scott treated others with great generosity. Likewise, even as he struggled with schizoaffective disorder, a stream of kindness ran through his character, gently and deeply.

Scott was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Max David Brazil; by his grandfathers, Estel Ernest “Buck” Brazil and Aaron Kenneth Rosson; and by his grandmother, Patsy Rosson. He is survived by his mother, Janice Rosson Brazil; by his grandmother, Lorena Brazil; by his brothers Kyle and Ben (Laura, sons David, Walt, and John); and by his aunts and uncles: Clark and Micky Brazil, Jim and Carol Griffin, Tim and Lea DeLong, and Tom and Janie Bass. Scott is also survived by numerous cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 13, 2017, at Lunn’s Colonial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at a visitation following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) at https://ifundraise.nami.org/campaign/ScottBrazil or to NAMI of Rutherford County, Tenn. at PO Box 11161, Murfreesboro, Tenn., 37129.
