SMSgt. Roy James Crowell, Ret., 87, formerly of Wichita Falls, died on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, in Arlington, Texas.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 16, 2017, in the chapel of Lunnís Colonial Funeral Home. Interment with full military honors will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 10 a.m. until service time on Monday, October 16, 2017, at Lunnís. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunnís Colonial Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.

A son of the late Beaulah Edith (Ray) and Jessie Lee Crowell, Roy was born on November 10, 1929, in Fairlee, Texas. He married Charlotte Joyce Wolfe in June 1951 in Enid, Oklahoma.

He attended Wolfe City High School and Bland High School 1948. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1948 and served domestically and abroad until 1971. He retired to Wichita Falls where he attended Midwestern University and graduated in 1975. He was employed by the City of Wichita Falls and also the State of Texas in health code enforcement. He retired in 1989 and spent many a day on the golf course with his buddies. Roy and Charlotte traveled in their 5th wheel trailer all over the United States as they worked to research and document their familyís genealogy. They attended the First Baptist Church Wichita Falls since 1971 where he served as deacon.

Along with his parents, Roy was also preceded in death by his brothers, Billy Crowell and Richard Crowell.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Joyce Crowell; sister, Paula Chamberlain and Paul; Sister-in-law and Brother-in-law Patricia Fleetwood and Orville; daughter, Paula Howell and husband Lee; son, Tim Crowell and wife Denise; and son, Clay Crowell and wife Pam. He is also survived by eight beloved grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and many more nieces, nephews and cousins.
