To borrow a quote from the great evangelist, D. L. Moody, “You are reading that I am dead. Do not believe a word of it, for I am more alive than ever before.”

Mom is now with her Savior. She is now in her real home.

Doris was born to Miles and Cora Willmon on September 9, 1923, in Kleberg, Texas. She moved with her family to Ennis, Texas, and graduated from Ennis High School. There, she met her future husband, former councilman J. W. Martin. They were married on December 18, 1945, and moved to Wichita Falls in 1957. They spent 59 years together until J. W.’s death in 2005.

Doris was blessed by her wonderful church family at First Baptist Church. While attending First Baptist, she was active in the International Friends and pre-school ministries. The body of believers in this church has ministered to her in countless ways through the years. Not just by being good friends, but by lifting her up in prayer through her final years. These friends are special.

Beginning with Wichita General Hospital, now United Regional, Doris was a volunteer for 50 years. She was proud of this mile stone and cherished her auxiliary relationships.

Doris is preceded in death by her brothers Gene, Travis and Jack; and sister Eldene.
