Clare Frank Browning

Clare Frank Browning
May 1, 1938 - March 11, 2018

Clare Frank Browning passed from this life to catch a deep breath of heavenly air on Sunday, March 11, 2018. Clare Boisfeuillet Pittman was born in Atlanta, Georgia, May 1, 1938, to Dr. James Pittman and Clare Boisfeuillet Jones. She married Jerry Stephen Frank on July 28, 1960. They were blessed with four sons: Stephen, Bruce, Hixon, and James. After Jerry’s death in 1980, Clare married William (Bill) Browning in 1982.
Clare is survived by her sons, Stephen Frank and wife Karen of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Dr. Bruce Frank and wife Lori of Asheville, North Carolina; Hixon Frank and wife Margie of Austin, Texas; and James Frank and wife Alisha of Wichita Falls; and 13 grandchildren: Meagan, Caroline, Tyler and wife Carissa, Conner, Sydney, Sarah-Clare, Grayson, Glen, Jerod and wife Kiersten, Jonathan, Hixon, Elijah, and Isaiah Frank. She is also survived by step-children: William Browning and wife Teresa, Becky Browning, Barbie Ledford and husband Dennis, Julie Mahler and husband Rick, Judy Sorge and husband Kent; and 12 step- grandchildren and 14 step-great-grandchildren.

Clare graduated from Hollins College with a degree in history and economics. She worked in the banking industry after the death of her first husband until her retirement from American National Bank in 2003.

Clare loved her family and friends. She had a way of making everyone she met feel like they were the most important person in the world. While she was a feminine southern belle, she was also as tough as they come. Clare graciously overcame a heart attack, lung cancer, breast cancer, a debilitating stroke, and the death of both husbands. Until her last day on earth, she was fighting to improve, expressing thankfulness, and blessing family and the nursing staff with her warm smile. If Clare had been the first mother-in-law, they wouldn’t have a bad reputation. All her grandkids will know that she wanted them to “be particular”.
Family visitation will be held on Thursday, March 15th, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at Lunn’s Colonial Funeral Home. Clare’s life will be celebrated on Friday, March 16th, at 2 p.m. at Floral Heights Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Faith Refuge (Faith Refuge at 710 E. Hatton Rd., Wichita Falls, TX. 76302).
