Jim Ann Jones Hessing passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 after a brief illness. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, April 23. 2018 at Floral Heights United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Yeager officiating. There will be a visitation with the family following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
Jim Ann was born in Vernon, Texas on February 1, 1936 Mary “Dodson” and Cecil Jones. She grew up in Vernon and graduated from Vernon High School in 1954.
Jim Ann met her future husband, Menard “Moose” Hessing while attending North Texas University. They were married in 1956 in New Castle, Delaware. They resided in Denton while Moose finished college. They later moved to Houston and then Galveston where Moose was in the furniture business. During those years, they were blessed with three boys, Shawn, Mark, and Brett Hessing. A later move to Oklahoma City brought the long awaited little girl, Stacy Kay.
In 1974, Jim Ann, Menard, and their family moved to Wichita Falls, where they remained. Jim Ann went to work for the Wichita County Medical Society soon thereafter and worked there until her retirement in 2009.
She was a long time member of Floral Heights United Church and an active member of the 50/50 Sunday School Class.
After the death of her husband, Menard, Jim Ann moved to Presbyterian Manor, where she became a “Manor Kid”! She loved the new friends she made there and all the activities they offered.
Jim Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Cecil Jones, her husband, Menard, and her son, Brett. Survivors are her children, Shawn- Lori Hessing, Mark- Nancy Hessing, and Stacy - Robert Wright. Also surviving are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Katie and Kevin Bonner and their children, Gracie and Shep. Janie and Tyler Smith, Ryan and Natalie Hessing and daughter, Mimi, Holly Hessing, Brandon and Jesse Hessing, Josh and Kelsie Wright, Hayden Wright, and daughter-in-law, Ellie Hessing.
Also surviving is a sister, Catherine-Tom Taylor and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be sent to The Good Samaritan Fund at Presbyterian Manor.
