Beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Don Paul Williams died peacefully June 30, 2018, in Plano, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. Don was born on December 6, 1944, in Wichita Falls, TX. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Plano, Texas.

Don was preceded in death by his parents Marion and Nelson (Morgan) Williams; brothers Ray Williams and Wiley Williams, and his lifelong friends Mickey Maroney and Keith Lavender.

Don reunited with his childhood sweetheart Andrea Chandler in 1996, and they were married on July 14, 2002. He is survived by daughter Kristy Alejandro; and son Kelly (Bubba) Williams of Houston, TX; stepsons Scott Ingle, partner Sal Pena, of Dallas, TX; Doug Brown of Austin, TX;, and step-daughter Amy Johnson, husband Travis, of McKinney, TX; and six grandchildren Sofia and Olivia Alejandro; Luke and Lacie Johnson; and Jackson and Cru Stone.

Don was active in sports his whole life. He was influenced greatly by his first baseball coach and mentor, Sam Milam of the Little Hoboes, followed by lifelong friends Coaches Dub Largin, Herb Marvel and the late Jimmy Dobson at Reagan Junior High; the late coaches Jess Stiles, Donnell Crosslin, and Athletic Director Joe Golding at Wichita Falls High School, and Bill Froman at Mineral Wells High School. Don completed his 41-year coaching and teaching career at Garland Lakeview and Bussey Middle School where he was Athletic Coordinator under the leadership of his mentor and friend Homer Johnson, Athletic Director at Garland I.S.D. Don played and coached football all of his life including winning a State Championship for the Wichita Falls High School Coyotes in 1961. Some of his lifelong friends were his teammates on the Coyote teams from 1961 through 1963 including Sammy Milam, Mickey McShan, Mickey Pemberton, the late Mickey Maroney, Pat Alexander, Kenny Baines, Bobby Harbison, Tommy Johnson, Jim Estrada, Ronnie Shields, Jay Lavender, Mike Kelly, Larry Shields, Kenny Aboussie, Robert Walker and many, many others. After graduating from WFHS in 1963, Don went on to play football at Texarkana Junior College then completed his Bachelor of Science degree from Midwestern State University. He started his coaching career at Barwise Junior High School in Wichita Falls followed by Rider High School where one of his fondest memories was as a member of the coaching staff of the 1974 Rider High School Bi-District Champions. He was very proud of that team for their hard work and dedication. Don was a mentor and friend to many students from all walks of life. He did not expect perfection from his students, but he did expect his students and players to work and play to the best of their abilities. His proudest moments have been the many notes of thanks and gratitude he has received over the years from his former students thanking him for being such a great influence on their lives.

Services will be held Monday, July 9th at Lunnís Colonial Funeral Home, 2812 Midwestern Parkway in Wichita Falls. Visitation with the family will be at 1:00 p.m. with the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Former student and retired pastor, Roger Deerinwater, will officiate the service. Pall bearers will be Pat Alexander, Mark Ball, Fred Parker and nephews Todd Barnett, Justin McDaniel, Bobby Moorehead, John Moorehead and Jack Peel. Honorary pall bearers will be Neal Foehner, Sammy Milam, Mickey Pemberton, Bob Johnson, Tommy Johnson and nephews Allen Barnett, Chris Barnett, Gary Chandler, Mickey McShan and Brandon Haggard.
