Ada “Elrhea” Williams, 92, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2017, at House of Hope, Wichita Falls, Texas. The memorial service was held on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at Crestview Memorial Park chapel, officiated by Dr. David Hartman, First Christian Church. Following the memorial service, Elrhea was buried beside her beloved husband, David. Arrangements were under the direction of Lunn’s Colonial Funeral Home.
A daughter of the late Carrie (Unfred) and C.B. Wigley, Sr., Elrhea was born on January 8, 1925, at her parents’ home on Fillmore Street, Wichita Falls, Texas. Elrhea graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1940, at the age of 15, where she was a member of the National Honor Society and on the Senior Council. She attended Hardin Junior College, now Midwestern State University, where she belonged to Phi Theta Kappa. Elrhea began employment as a secretary at Dun & Bradstreet and later for W. Erle White, President of White’s Stores, Inc. until her first child was born. Elrhea was active in the Delta Nu Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.
Elrhea married David Al Williams on November 23, 1947, at Highland Heights Christian Church, and together they lovingly raised three children. Elrhea was blessed with five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She and her family were devoted members of Highland Heights Christian Church where she taught Sunday school for many years and served as Deaconess, Secretary and Historian of the Church Board, and President of the Christian Women’s Fellowship. Upon the closing of Highland Heights, they transferred their membership to First Christian Church where she was declared Diaconate Emeritus in 2007.
Along with her parents, Elrhea was also preceded in death by her husband, David; sister, Mary Alexander; brother C.B. Wigley, Jr.; and son-in-law Charles Salter III.
Survivors include a son, Ron and wife Annette of Lowell, AR; daughter Janis Salter of Wichita Falls and daughter Jo Betsy Thomas and husband Jerry of Lake Kemp, TX; grandchildren, Blake Williams and wife Ashley of Bentonville, AR, Brian Salter and wife Laura of Ft. Worth, TX, Amy Findley and husband Dennis of Peterborough, UK, Julie Allen and husband Matt of Aubrey, TX and Leslie Rhodes and husband Daniel of Wichita Falls.
Elrhea was devoted to her family and will be greatly missed. The family wishes to extend many thanks to the caring staff at House of Hope and Hospice of Wichita Falls who so lovingly cared for her.
