Richard LeRoy Dora, beloved husband, father, grandfather and teacher, passed away Monday, July 3, 2017 with his family by his side.

A Celebration of life with military honors will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at First Church of the Nazarene, 1667 Kell E. Blvd., with Rev. Allen Hughes officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunnís Colonial Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday, July 14, 2017 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Lunnís.

Richard is the son of the late LeRoy and Josephine Dora. Richard was born on September 19, 1947, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Arts and Education from Southern Colorado State College. He was an Army Vietnam Veteran and participated in the Texas Association of Vietnam Veterans. While serving in the military he was awarded the following medals: National Defense Service Medal, Parachute Badge, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars and Sharpshooter. He taught at Wichita Falls High School for 35 years. He taught many students in industrial arts, drafting and tech lab. His legacy will continue through his sons in the way he taught them to care for others and the work ethic that he instilled in them. During his retirement, he pursued life time dreams of raising cattle, harvesting hay, collecting stamps and antique tools.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife's parents Wes and Rosemary Stickney and sister-in-law Sara Dora.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 47 years, Kathy Dora; his sons, Mark Dora and wife, Tara and their children, Ava Grace, Ella Rose and Grant Emerson; and Tommy Dora and wife, Brooke and their children Chloe Kate and Dax Thomas; his brother, David Dora; brothers-in-law Allen Stickney and wife, Kelly and Dan Stickney; many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the Richard L. Dora Educational Scholarship has been set up at the Wichita Falls Teachers Federal Credit Union, 4301 Barnett Road, 76310. Scholarship applications will be available at the Credit Union on September 1, 2017.
