Jane Steinhorst Anderson (91) passed away November 27, 2017, in Wichita Falls. A memorial service will honor the life of Jane Anderson on December 9, 2017, at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, 909 Tenth Street. Visitation will follow at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
Born in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, on May 17, 1926, Jane Adeline Steinhorst was the daughter of George Erric Steinhorst and Alma Helen Steinhorst. She graduated from Pawhuska High School and from the University of Oklahoma (BA in journalism 1948). Before she married, Jane was a flight attendant for Braniff International Airways, and through the years she maintained membership in Clipped Bs, an organization of former Braniff employees.
In 1951 Jane married Reuben Richard “Dick” Anderson, They had two daughters, Anne Anderson Wallen and Lynn Elizabeth Anderson.
From 1980 to 2004, Jane owned and operated Jane Anderson Estate Sales. She loved travel, music, art, and theater. For many years, she audited an art history class every semester at Midwestern State University and never missed a theater performance or art show on campus. She was a member of the President’s Excellence Circle at MSU. She loved the Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra and was active in the Symphony League. She was a member of Criterion Club and volunteered in Lone Stars, a group supporting Wichita Falls Convention and Visitors Bureau. Jane also served as a docent at Wichita Falls Museum and Art Center (now Wichita Falls Museum of Art at MSU). A member of First United Methodist Church, Jane treasured her friends in the Open Door Sunday School class at FUMC.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband (1989) and daughters Anne (2004) and Lynn (2017). She is survived by two beloved grandsons: John Ayres Wallen and wife Camilynne of Louisville, KY, and Thomas Edward Wallen, Marlborough, MA, as well as son-in-law Dan Wallen, Keswick, VA. Jane and Dick sponsored a family from Vietnam; Minh and Nga Nguyen and their children have been Jane’s extended family. Other remaining family include cousins Edye Marshall of Cedar Hill, TX; Ellen Larue of Palestine, TX, Matt Anderson of Austin, TX, and sister-in-law Jo Parten Anderson of Austin, TX.
