Anna Jean Butler went home to be with Jesus, surrounded by her loving family, on May 13, 2018.
A service celebrating her life will be held Wednesday, May 16 at 1:30 p.m. at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home, 2812 Midwestern Parkway, Wichita Falls, TX 76308, followed by interment at Crestview Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
Anna was a generous and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was born October 9, 1930, in Emblem, Texas, to Virtie and Maude Peek Matherly, along with twin sister Willa Dean. She was a 1948 graduate of Commerce High School, and a 1951 graduate of East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce.
Anna and Clyde Leon Butler were married June 2, 1950, in Commerce, and were devoted to each other for almost 68 years. Anna taught school in Wichita Falls for 27 years, and retired from McGaha Elementary school. She loved her 2nd graders. A life-long Baptist, Anna and Clyde were long-time active members of First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls.
Her greatest love and joy was her family. She and sister Willa raised their families together, enjoying holidays and special times as their families grew.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Willa and Clara Belle.
She is survived by husband Clyde Leon Butler of Irving; daughter LeAnn and husband Tom Box of Irving; son Dr. Barry and wife Kathryn Butler of Rowlett; nephew James Charles "Chuck" and wife Debbie White of Wichita Falls; niece Linda Bishop of Wichita Falls; grandchildren Andy and wife Jenny Box, Lisa and husband Phillip Wagner, Brandon and wife Lesley Butler, Elizabeth Butler, and five great grandchildren.
