Bobby Ray Schmitz passed on to be with our Lord in heaven on May 28, 2018, after a short but tough battle with cancer. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, May 31, 2018, at First Baptist Church, East Sanctuary. Burial will be at Rosemont Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunnís Colonial Funeral Home. He was born on March 4, 1941, in Borger, Texas. After graduating high school, he then went on to Texas Tech University and graduated with a Bachelorís Degree in Math.
Bobby was an Industrial Engineer for his entire career which started at NASA in Houston, where he met and married his loving wife Jacque. They moved to Wichita Falls in 1971 where he joined the Civil Engineering Squadron at Sheppard Air Force Base. He retired in 2006.
Bobby enjoyed old cars and reminiscing about his school days. He always had a book in his hand, both fiction and non-fiction, but especially enjoyed reading about historical events. He was an avid stamp and coin collector, and loved working on model airplane kits. He volunteered for many years with the Childrenís Ministry at First Baptist Church participating in Vacation Bible School and packing lunches for underprivileged children.
His favorite pastime was sharing his love of the oldies rock and roll music and putting together puzzles with his two grandsons. He never missed an opportunity to have lunch with daughter Lisa. He was a very supportive and loving husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents Carl Joseph and Nadine Brown Schmitz.
He is survived by his wife, Jacque Sanderson Schmitz, two children; son, Steve Schmitz and wife Caroline, daughter, Lisa Schmitz Foshee and husband John, two grandsons; Justin Foshee and Syler Foshee, and sister, Carla Goodall.
