October 27, 1924 - August 26, 2018

Alma Goodman Bates was called to her heavenly home on August 26th, 2018, surrounded by her family. Services will be 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, August 30, 2018, at Lunnís Funeral Home in Wichita Falls, Texas. Following the services, there will be a private interment at Hope Cemetery in Henrietta, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunnís Colonial Funeral Home.

Alma was born October 27, 1924 to Walter and Susie (Graham) Patton in Henrietta, Texas. The family moved to Bowie, Texas where she started grade school. During high school, she was voted Freshman Beauty in 1941 and graduated from Bowie High School in 1943. After graduation, she moved to Wichita Falls, Texas and started working at Michelleís House of Fragrances where she helped others feel and look beautiful as a cosmetic specialist.
On July 2, 1946 she married Randal K. Goodman. They shared 47 wonderful years together until he passed away in 1993. In 1999, she married Tracy O. Bates and they were together for 12 years until his passing.
Alma was a lifetime member of Faith Baptist Church of Wichita Falls, where she loved serving the Lord. Through the years, she enjoyed leading crafts in her womenís church group, playing forty-two with family and friends and teaching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren the game of Chicken Foot. She was an avid bowler for a league in Wichita Falls and competed in many local, state and national tournaments for numerous years. She enjoyed going dancing at the Red Door and supporting the Red Door Dancers. She loved writing letters, sending handmade cards, taking pictures, scrapbooking, reading scriptures and poems and sharing these passions with her family and friends. She also enjoyed watching sports and cheering for her favorite team the Dallas Cowboys.

Alma also known as Aunt Sis, Mom and Granny was loved by so many. She is survived by her two children: her son Randy Goodman, and wife Cherie of Arlington, Texas; her daughter, Sherri Williams and husband Len of Mart, Texas; her four grandchildren: granddaughter Shay Schill and husband Kyle; grandson Landry Williams and wife Bethany; granddaughter Dr. Lindsay Goodman and grandson Taylor Goodman; her six great-grandchildren Taylen, Laken, Finley, Ellie, Channing and Luke. She also leaves behind her beloved sister Patricia Herbert from Klamath Falls, Oregon; sister-in-law Annie Patton; adopted daughter Shirley Cary and her husband Danny and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Palliative Care of North Texas in Wichita Falls, Texas and Providence Hospice of Waco. Memorials may be made to the Red Door, Meals on Wheels, or the America Red Cross.
